Max Kaiser
Max Kaiser is a dynamic young conductor based in Brooklyn, New York, whose artistic journey began as a bassoonist with the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestra and Maryland Classical Youth Orchestra. After earning his undergraduate degree in bassoon performance from the Catholic University of America, he pivoted to conducting. His competitive successes include reaching the semifinals of the Bucharest Music Institute International Conducting Competition and earning a coveted spot as a finalist at the Vienna International Conducting Competition.
Max’s dedication to refining his craft has taken him to masterclasses across the world, including immersive studies in Kiev, Belgrade, Florence, and the Athens International Masterclass under the mentorship of Maestro Michalis Economou. He has further honed his artistry under luminaries such as Maestro Christopher Lyndon-Gee and Maestro György G. Ráth, building on foundational guidance from his first conducting professor, Maestro Simeone Tartaglione.
During his graduate studies at the Boston Conservatory under Maestro Bruce Hangen, Max’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to found the Boston Conservatory Pops Orchestra, a vibrant, student-led ensemble dedicated to celebrating lighter repertoire and fostering community engagement through accessible, spirited performances. This initiative underscored his leadership and vision, complementing his rigorous academic training.
Currently Max serves as the principal bassoonist for the Brooklyn Symphony, as well as freelancing with several other orchestras in the area including the New Conductor’s Orchestra, New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, and Broadway Bach Ensemble.
